“music is the healing force of the universe”
– Albert Ayler

The audio soundtrack to Postcards from Babylon is a unique piece of 21st-century storytelling, layering together Alex Forster’s evocative music and Christian de Sousa’s spoken-word narratives.
Journeys in Rhythm…
As a DJ, I learned my craft doing late-night radio and playing the dawn set at house parties.
Bringing an eclectic music taste into service of 5Rhythms dancefloors brought new understanding of how magic arises in the meeting of music and people.
I held a kind of weekly residency for 14 years at Sweaty Thursdays in south London, during which time DJing as a facilitator of movement spaces took me around Europe, playing at workshops and ceremonies and occasionally dropping into festivals and independent clubs. I was privileged to be one of the curators and lead DJs for the first 7 years of the 72hour Movement Medicine Summer Long Dance.
Gabrielle Roth’s notion of the Wave is the fluid and brilliant map that I use to create and navigate musical journeys, working in resonance with the natural rising, falling and alchemising of energy.
I’m currently focussed on monthly broadcasts for Transmission deep radio, and on making mixes for Dancefloor Jedi – both adaptive responses to the current times.
As a spoken word artist, I re-shaped my writings to co-create the album version of Postcards from Babylon with Alex Forster. There’s also a voice/song thing happening which I hope to get down on wax at some point.
